Overview
The Rolling Stones announced their 25th studio album 'Foreign Tongues' on May 5 and previewed singles 'In the Stars' and 'Rough and Twisted' at a launch event in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The 14-track album was recorded in about a month in London with producer Andrew Watt and will be released July 10, following the Stones' 2023 album 'Hackney Diamonds'.
The Weylin event hosted by Conan O'Brien included celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Baz Luhrmann, and O'Brien said he had listened to the record '25 times' and praised its vibrancy and urgency.
Now a three-piece after drummer Charlie Watts's 2021 death, the band—who have sold more than 250 million albums—features guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Robert Smith and Chad Smith, with Watts on the track 'Hit Me in the Head'.
The surviving members will appear on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon' across three nights, with Mick Jagger on Wednesday, Keith Richards on Thursday and Ronnie Wood on May 13, and Jagger said he 'would love to tour the album'.
Analysis
Center-leaning sources frame the story as celebratory and promotional, using positive descriptors (e.g., 'luxurious,' 'stunning Victorian architecture,' 'exclusive') and privileging band voices and event atmosphere over critical perspectives. Editorial choices—selection of upbeat anecdotes, highlighted jokes and applause, and omission of dissenting views—produce a fan-focused, upbeat narrative.
