The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has initiated investigations into Ford's handling of recent recalls involving Ford Bronco Sports, Mavericks, and Expeditions. This follows a civil penalty of up to $165 million for Ford's delays and inaccurate reporting regarding recalls. Specifically, the probes will assess if the recall measures for approximately 457,000 Bronco Sports and Mavericks effectively address loss of power complaints, and if more than 113,000 Expeditions require expanded recall due to seatbelt issues. Ford is cooperating with the investigations.
