Ford is recalling more than 741,000 vehicles in the United States because a transmission defect can damage the park system and increase the risk of rollaways, crashes or injuries. Federal regulators said the recall covers certain 2018-2021 Ford F-150, Ford Explorer, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with park-by-wire functionality and 10R80 transmissions. Ford estimates about 1% of the 741,195 vehicles have the defect and has identified 220 reports in North America, including 24 allegations of property damage and nine alleged injuries. Owners may see a wrench warning indicator, and some affected Expedition and Navigator owners could face a wait until April 2027 for a permanent repair.
