eBay Harassment Settlement

eBay and three former executives agreed to pay $55.7 million to settle a civil lawsuit by Massachusetts journalists David and Ina Steiner, with eBay’s share nearly $50 million. The Steiners, who publish EcommerceBytes, said former eBay employees targeted them in 2019 after critical coverage of the company, sending threats and anonymous deliveries including live cockroaches, a funeral wreath and a bloody pig Halloween mask. The settlement, first reached tentatively in February as trial approached, ends the couple’s lawsuit over the cyberstalking and harassment campaign.
