OpenAI publicly rebutted Apple’s trade-secrets lawsuit in a blog post titled “Apple is getting this wrong,” saying it does not have or want Apple trade secrets and releasing legal correspondence and iMessages involving former Apple engineer Chang Liu. Apple sued OpenAI in July, alleging Liu and 24-year Apple veteran Tang Tan improperly accessed proprietary technology before joining or working with OpenAI. On Aug. 3, Apple asked for a preliminary injunction blocking OpenAI from operating products allegedly built with its trade secrets, plus forensic review of devices and cloud storage.
