Binance is investigating a possible hack after reports of unusual crypto transfers. Crypto firms froze a verified $2.54 billion in funds, including major actions by stablecoin issuers Circle and Tether. Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while it ran security checks. The company said it was working with law enforcement and industry partners to trace assets. Binance said user funds were safe and that it would cover losses. Former CEO and shareholder Changpeng Zhao said the incident appeared to be a hack and expected customers to be fully covered. Any final loss remains unconfirmed.

Left and right

From the left

Left-leaning outlets framed the case as a suspected record-scale theft whose confirmed facts still lagged the alarm. The Guardian stressed that the damage was unclear while describing a response built around fast freezes and customer reassurance. Al Jazeera emphasized the possible market-wide stakes if the suspected attack is confirmed.

From the right

Right-leaning outlets led with the containment effort, then stressed that Binance had not confirmed a theft. The New York Post focused on fast action by stablecoin issuers as Binance tried to reassure customers. The Washington Times emphasized that the damage and whether funds were stolen remained unclear.
