Jacob Allen Morley, a convicted murderer, escaped from a Tennessee prison. After escaping, Morley allegedly stole a white Ford F-350 flatbed truck, which authorities said could have carried him beyond the prison area. Prison staff at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville found the 28-year-old missing around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Morley is serving a life sentence for the 2022 murder of co-worker and longtime friend Cody Birchfield, whose body was found beneath Morley’s home. Surveillance video showed Morley crossing the perimeter fence in prison clothing. Officials warned people not to approach him and offered up to $2,500 for tips. The manhunt continues, and officials have not confirmed his whereabouts.

How the left told it

Left-leaning outlets framed the escape as a serious law-enforcement problem, stressing the mobilized search more than the grisly details of the crime. The New York Times used the Tennessee Department of Correction’s account that it was working with local, state and federal officers to find him. HuffPost emphasized the life sentence and murder conviction as the reason the escape carried major public-safety weight.

How the right told it

Right-leaning outlets cast the escape as an immediate public-safety threat, leaning harder into warnings and alarm around the fugitive. Daily Mail described a major manhunt and highlighted public warnings not to approach him. The New York Post lingered on the murder history, especially the hidden body beneath the home, to underscore the danger.
