What happened
Ed Sheeran’s two Gillette Stadium concerts in Foxborough, Massachusetts, were canceled because of severe weather warnings from an incoming nor’easter. The shows had already drawn scrutiny after Sheeran removed rapper Macklemore from the tour over pro-Palestinian comments, including calls for a free Palestine and references to Gaza. Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft called Macklemore’s comments hate speech, while Macklemore said Kraft organized a boycott and threatened venues unless he was dropped. The promoter said the cancellation followed talks with local officials and put fan, staff, and crew safety first. Sheeran said the promoter made the Macklemore decision, then apologized to fans. Ticket holders will be refunded at purchase.
