Mexican Jalapeños Linked To Salmonella

Federal investigators traced a multistate salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeño peppers to a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, and California-based Coast Citrus Distributors, which supplied restaurants including Chipotle and QDOBA. As of August 5, the outbreak had sickened 345 people in 27 states, with 36 hospitalizations and no reported deaths. Minnesota and Colorado have reported the most cases. Coast Citrus recalled affected jalapeños, and a Minnesota woman hospitalized with sepsis after eating a Chipotle burrito bowl sued the chain over alleged contamination.
