A 40-year-old Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, woman died Saturday from measles complications. Coroner Greg Furlong confirmed the death and called it heartbreaking, warning that measles can be serious and life-threatening. She was unvaccinated. Pennsylvania has reported three measles-related deaths this year, after about 35 years without one. As of Friday, the outbreak had more than 670 confirmed cases and more than 120 hospitalizations across more than three dozen counties. Lancaster County is the epicenter. State health officials are reviewing the case. Measles was declared eliminated nationally in 2000 but is resurging.
