An F-35B Lightning II fighter jet crashed near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego on Friday morning, and the pilot ejected before being taken to a local medical facility in stable condition. The single-seat aircraft, assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, went down short of the runway just before 10 a.m. PT. The crash sparked a small fire that first responders extinguished. The Marine Corps said the pilot’s injuries were non-life-threatening and the pilot is expected to survive.
