The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Aaron F. Farinacci, 37, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree arson in the Old Trails Fire, the largest of three wildfires burning around Spokane, Washington. The fires have burned more than 8,000 acres, destroyed roughly 700 buildings and forced about 65,000 residents to evacuate in Spokane and Stevens counties. As of Tuesday, the blazes remained 0% contained, though cooler weather helped crews hold two fires with no overnight growth and mop up a spot fire. Court records say Farinacci was contacted about two fires last year but not charged.
