Zuckerberg Yacht Misses Distress Call

A spokesperson for Mark Zuckerberg said the crew of his 387-foot yacht Launchpad did not hear a U.S. Coast Guard radio request to assist a nearby skiff off Alaska, and another vessel had already helped by the time it received the call. The 21-foot skiff had run out of fuel between Petersburg and Juneau, prompting the small cruise ship Wilderness Legacy to divert. A passenger said the cruise ship’s captain told those aboard that Zuckerberg’s yacht was closer but had not responded. The Coast Guard determined the skiff was not in distress.
