The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

A Los Angeles County grand jury indicted 32-year-old Nick Reiner on two murder charges in the killings of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, adding a special-circumstance allegation that he was lying in wait before the attack. The indictment was returned July 20 and unsealed Wednesday, when Reiner pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say the couple were fatally stabbed last December inside their Brentwood home. Reiner remains held without bail, is due back in court Sept. 15, and prosecutors have not decided whether to seek the death penalty.
