About 15 people may be missing or unaccounted for after a flash flood swept through Grand Canyon National Park’s Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch areas around 2:30 p.m. local time Saturday. By Sunday morning, 62 hikers, campers and other visitors had been evacuated as search teams sought information on anyone who had been along Bright Angel Creek or booked at Phantom Ranch. Floodwaters destroyed footbridges and carried boulders, metal structures and debris into the Colorado River. The flooding also knocked out the park’s sole water pipeline serving tourists and residents.
