Atlantic Industrial Coatings, the contractor that renovated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, told the Trump administration in government documents dated August 14 and September 2 that its own errors caused the pool’s new blue liner to peel and tear. The company cited “human oversight” and flaws in a repair plan that layered two incompatible chemicals. The admission contradicts President Trump’s repeated claim that vandals using knives or box cutters damaged the pool. The renovation was a no-bid, $14.7 million project ordered by Trump.
