As wildfires continued to devastate the area, burning thousands of acres and leading to numerous deaths, Maher pointed out perceived failures in leadership and preparedness, suggesting that the focus on diversity and inclusion efforts may have detracted from essential fire response capabilities. He expressed frustration at the government's lack of action and infrastructure, stating, 'I pay 13% of my income... assuming people were working on things like this.'
