Overview
Matthew Huttle, 42, was shot and killed by a Jasper County deputy during a traffic stop on Sunday. Huttle had been pardoned by Trump for his Jan. 6 actions. An altercation occurred when the deputy attempted to arrest Huttle, who was found armed. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted by the Indiana State Police. Huttle, sentenced to six months for entering a restricted building, was one of more than 1,500 individuals pardoned following the Capitol riot. His violent past raises questions about the implications of such pardons.
