The Justice Department unsealed a two-count indictment charging 11 people from New York City and Westchester County with running a marriage-fraud network from 2016 through July 2026. Prosecutors say the operation arranged more than 1,000 sham marriages, mostly pairing Chinese nationals with U.S. citizens to seek green cards and other immigration benefits. The alleged network charged foreign clients up to $100,000 and paid U.S. citizens as much as $30,000 to participate. Ten defendants were arrested after the indictment was unsealed.
