Donald Trump Seeks Ballroom Approval

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Friday for emergency relief allowing construction to continue on President Donald Trump’s planned $400 million, 90,000-square-foot White House ballroom at the site of the demolished East Wing. The request seeks to pause lower-court orders, including a federal appeals court ruling one week earlier, that blocked aboveground work and held the project requires congressional approval. Solicitor General John Sauer argued the project is needed for presidential security and White House operations, citing threats to Trump’s life and saying construction is “beyond the point of no return.”
