Trump Dismisses USS Lincoln Concerns

The USS George Washington is heading to the Middle East to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln, and acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao said the Lincoln will return home soon after a nearly nine-month deployment supporting U.S. operations tied to Iran. Families and lawmakers raised concerns about food and supply shortages, low morale and mental health aboard the carrier, with reports that six sailors attempted suicide and others tried to jump ship. Trump told reporters the deployment was “not nearly long enough,” denied that families were worried, and said the replacement carrier was moving into place.
