Former Justice Department civil rights lawyer Haley Van Erem filed a whistleblower complaint alleging a Trump administration antisemitism task force pushed cases against Harvard, Columbia and Brown despite investigators finding little or no evidence of civil-rights violations. Van Erem said career lawyers assigned in 2025 were pressured to support predetermined findings and were sidelined when they recommended dropping or narrowing cases. The complaint says officials used the probes to press Ivy League universities into settlements. The Justice Department denied the allegations.
