Jimmy Gomez Accused Of Assault

Attorneys Lisa Banks and Sarah Nesbitt said Wednesday that their client told the House Ethics Committee Rep. Jimmy Gomez sexually harassed and assaulted her, directly disputing the California Democrat’s statement that his conduct was “consensual in nature.” The committee announced Monday it is investigating whether Gomez engaged in sexual misconduct, including “inappropriate sexual contact” with a House staffer. Gomez has acknowledged “personal mistakes” outside his marriage but said they were consensual and did not violate House rules. The accuser’s identity has not been disclosed.
