The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most outlets agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford endorsed Rep. Ralph Norman over Trump-backed Sen. Darline Graham Nordone in the August 25 Republican runoff for the U.S. Senate nomination. The runoff was triggered after Sen. Lindsey Graham died unexpectedly in July, after he had already won renomination for the November ballot. Darline Graham, his sister and appointed successor, led the Aug. 11 primary by eight points but entered the runoff after falling short of a majority. Trump urged supporters to vote by telling them to “pretend” he was on the ballot.

Graham unqualifiedMostly Center

Darline Graham lacks the seriousness and competence needed to serve as a U.S. senator. Her rise reflects a MAGA political culture that rewards loyalty to Trump over preparation or ability.
