Trump Floats At-Home Parent Subsidy

The Trump administration is drafting a rule that would let married couples with one stay-at-home parent receive federal child care subsidies. The money would come from the roughly $12 billion Child Care and Development Fund, a Health and Human Services program that currently helps low-income parents pay for child care while they work, seek jobs or attend school. The draft creates a category called parent-based child care, allowing one parent to be paid for caring for children at home. Vice President JD Vance has championed the policy.
