Abdul El-Sayed Draws 9/11 Firestorm

Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks with a social media message saying the hijackers “attacked the idea of America.” Republican opponent Mike Rogers criticized El-Sayed over an earlier 9/11 message mourning Muslim civilians killed after the attacks and over campaigning with streamer Hasan Piker, who has said America deserved 9/11. El-Sayed responded that it was “sad” Rogers was focusing on “a streamer in California,” while Rogers said Michigan needs a senator “fighting for the victims,” not “explaining away” terrorist motivations.
