Trump Ends Irish Whiskey Tariff

What happened

President Donald Trump said Sunday he plans to remove the U.S. tariff on Irish whiskey, which was about 10%. He announced it during the trophy ceremony for the Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, County Clare. Trump said “everybody’s been bugging me” to act, including Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin and winner Shane Lowry. Irish whiskey had remained under a standard tariff on many European Union imports after certain U.K. whiskeys, including Scotch and Northern Ireland spirits, received relief. The crowd cheered loudly.

The Gateway Pundit noted Trump presented Lowry with the trophy.
