Trump Arch Becomes Military Complex

Trump said his planned 250-foot triumphal arch near Arlington National Cemetery will also serve as a top-grade military complex. He said it would store and rapidly deploy drones, place snipers on the roof and plaza, and hold sniper ammunition. The arch is planned for Memorial Circle, between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington, where critics say it would disrupt historic views. Veterans, historians, preservationists and some lawmakers have opposed or sued over the project, saying Congress has not authorized it. Trump said the military strongly requested the change for national security. Critics and some lawmakers dispute that, calling it a pretext. The project still needs final approval from the National Capital Planning Commission.
