What happened

President Donald Trump said he regrets nominating Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett because they have voted against him too often. He made the comment in a Time magazine interview published Thursday, after being asked directly about the three appointments. The remark followed major Supreme Court setbacks for Trump, including rulings against his tariff policy and his effort to restrict birthright citizenship. His first-term appointees have also helped deliver conservative wins on abortion, affirmative action, gun rights, and agency power. Trump said he wanted good decisions rather than loyalty, but also said he had given them the position of a lifetime. More Court clashes may follow.

How each side covered it

From the left

Left-leaning accounts framed the remark as a demand for partisan unity and personal loyalty from the bench. Daily Beast highlighted Trump praising Democratic-appointed justices, with Trump saying they “stick together like glue”. MEDIAite emphasized that Trump regretted all three picks, while Daily Beast tied his anger to rulings limiting his agenda.
