An Alaska voter says he may have voted for the wrong Dan Sullivan. Rep. James Comer warned that Mary Peltola might not be seated if she wins. Peltola, a Democrat, is running against Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, while Daniel J. Sullivan is also on the ranked-choice ballot. The New York Times said former Peltola staffers claimed her campaign recruited Daniel J. Sullivan to confuse voters; Peltola denied involvement. The Justice Department sued to block certification if the incumbent lost, but a federal judge dismissed the case, and the department appealed. Trump called the same-name candidacy criminal. The result, certification fight and Comer interviews remain unresolved tonight.

How the left told it

Left-leaning outlets framed the dispute as a preemptive challenge to an Alaska result Republicans might dislike. New Republic cast Trump as willing to throw out the race if Peltola wins. Joe.My.God focused on Comer’s warning that Peltola could be denied the seat even after a victory.

How the right told it

Right-leaning outlets framed the second Sullivan as a Democratic decoy, stressing voter confusion and possible consequences. Daily Mail leaned on the voter’s “Decoy Dan” account while saying Peltola’s rough language was not hurting her as Republicans hoped. Townhall highlighted Comer’s warning that Peltola might not be seated if she wins.
