What happened

Milwaukee beat Los Angeles 6-4 in Game 4, sweeping the National League Championship Series to reach the World Series. The Brewers had won 103 regular-season games, the most in the majors. The trip is Milwaukee’s first since 1982, when the Brewers lost their only previous World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. The franchise has never won a title. The Dodgers entered as two-time defending champions, but the sweep ended their bid for a third straight title. Christian Yelich said Milwaukee stayed together and chipped away after falling behind. The Brewers will host the opener on Oct. 23 against the winner of the American League Championship Series between Cleveland and Tampa Bay.

How each side covered it

From the left

Left-leaning outlets framed Milwaukee’s win as both a breakthrough and a payback moment against the defending champions. CNN emphasized that the Brewers had answered last season’s sweep by comprehensively outplaying Los Angeles this time. The Guardian lingered on the franchise’s long wait to return to the World Series.

Only one right-leaning outlet we track covered this: FOX News, under the headline “Brewers officially end Dodgers dynasty with ridiculous 6-4 comeback in game four to complete…”.
