Anthropic Researchers Warn Again

Jacob Coxon, a 27-year-old AI researcher, resigned from Anthropic on Tuesday and said the company and his former employer OpenAI were “gambling with our lives” by racing to build systems that could rapidly improve themselves toward superintelligence. Coxon announced the departure in a seven-part X thread that drew tens of millions of views and later called for regulation. Evan Hubinger, who leads an Anthropic model stress-testing team, also posted concerns about catastrophic AI risks. Separately, Anthropic is adding Andrew Tulloch, who is leaving Meta after less than a year to join its inference and performance team next week.
