What happened

ShinyHunters says it breached the FBI’s jobs portal and stole sensitive personnel data on current and former employees and applicants. The FBI has not confirmed a breach, and said it is investigating unauthorized activity affecting FBIJobs.gov. The jobs site was defaced and taken offline, showing a message that it had been “seized by ShinyHunters.” ShinyHunters said the intrusion retaliated against an FBI advisory describing the group as a cybercriminal outfit. Officials and cyber experts said a real breach could endanger agents and create counterintelligence risks. The group demanded a retraction and threatened to publish data. The point of entry remains unknown.
