Meta Debuts Muse Wearables

What happened

Meta used Connect to unveil the $1,299 Meta VR Glasses, a slimmer and lighter headset due in spring 2027. It introduced Muse Charm, a standalone AI wearable that Mark Zuckerberg said can reach Muse without unlocking a phone or opening an app. Meta is framing Muse as part of a personal superintelligence platform spanning hardware, software and AI agents, amid a race with OpenAI and AI-hardware startups. Muse is also coming to smart glasses, with updates for accessibility, audio, cameras, navigation, email, Mac computer use and live avatar chats. The VR Glasses use an external puck for processing and battery power. Zuckerberg said Meta has made only a few Charm devices and must finalize components before a planned December holiday launch.

Left-leaning coverage framed the launch around Muse becoming an everyday, hands-free assistant rather than just another headset reveal. The Verge emphasized voice activation on glasses, saying users could summon Muse by name for routine help. It also lingered on Charm as phone-free hardware with unfinished details, calling it “just a big screen”. The Verge portrayed Muse as moving quickly from chatbot buzz toward a more capable agent.
