Around 70 people were killed in a drone strike on the Saudi Teaching Maternal Hospital in El Fasher, Sudan, during a period of escalated violence in the ongoing civil war. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus condemned the attack, calling for a cessation of hostilities and protection for healthcare workers and facilities. The conflict, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, has led to dire humanitarian conditions, with tens of thousands dead and millions displaced since fighting began in April 2023.
