Rushdie Attacker Convicted

A federal jury in New York convicted Hadi Matar, 28, of all federal terrorism charges tied to the 2022 stabbing of author Salman Rushdie. The convictions include engaging in an act of transnational terrorism and providing material support to Hezbollah, adding to Matar’s existing 25-year state prison sentence for attempting to kill Rushdie. Rushdie had faced a decades-old death threat over his novel The Satanic Verses, and Matar did not testify at the federal trial.
