The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most sources agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Moroccan authorities intercepted 111 people near Fnideq as they tried to reach Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta on Saturday. Security forces stopped the group about 2 miles from the border and transported those detained by bus back to other parts of Morocco. The operation followed renewed social media calls urging migrants to gather for another mass crossing attempt after a July border crisis in Ceuta. Spain and Morocco increased security on both sides of the frontier, deploying soldiers and police around Ceuta and monitoring approaches from Morocco.
