The reporting
Tropical Storm Moke was advancing toward Hawaii on Saturday, with its center about 425 miles southeast of Hilo at 7 p.m. Eastern and moving west-northwest at about 11.5 mph. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph around midday and was expected to strengthen while tracking just south of the islands, without a forecast landfall. Forecasters warned the Big Island could see up to 15 inches of rain, gusty winds, flash flooding and mudslides. Hawaii is still recovering from flooding and damaging winds caused by Hurricane Lala.
