The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most sources agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Tim Curry, the British stage and screen actor best known for playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” has died at 80 at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles. His representatives said he died peacefully; no cause of death was immediately released, and police reported no suspected foul play. Curry originated Frank-N-Furter onstage before the 1975 film and later appeared as Pennywise in the 1990 “It” miniseries, “Clue,” “Annie” and “Home Alone 2.” He was a three-time Tony nominee and had faced significant health problems since a 2012 stroke.

Unapologetic ExuberanceMostly Left

Curry was greatest when he went big, committing completely to roles that were flamboyant, fantastical, villainous, or otherwise outsized. His appeal came from performing with fearless abundance while never seeming embarrassed by his own outrageousness.

Liberating NonconformityMostly Left

Curry’s performances helped make unconventional identity feel visible, alluring, and possible. Frank-N-Furter in particular was culturally ahead of its time, pushing androgyny, gender fluidity, and trans-coded expression toward mainstream recognition.
