The reporting
Liam and Noel Gallagher appeared at the Venice Film Festival for the world premiere of “Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger,” a documentary about Oasis’s reunion tour. The film, directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, combines concert footage with backstage access to the brothers’ return after not being on speaking terms from 2009. The Gallaghers posed for photographers on the Lido but skipped the press conference. At the premiere, the film received an eight-minute standing ovation as the brothers held hands and raised their fists.
Analysis & opinion
Affectionate PortraitMostly Center
The film presents the Oasis reunion as a warm, sentimental portrait of the comeback tour and what it meant. It is more interested in joy, poignancy and insider feeling than in treating the band from a distance.
