The reporting
Utah 4th District Judge Tony Graf ruled Tuesday that Tyler Robinson, 23, must stand trial on all seven counts in the killing of Charlie Kirk, finding prosecutors had shown probable cause. Robinson pleaded not guilty after the ruling to charges including aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury. The aggravated murder count is a capital charge, and prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted. Kirk was fatally shot at a Utah Valley University event on Sept. 10, 2025.
Analysis & opinion
Disrespectful defenseMostly Right
Robinson and his defense side acted disrespectfully during the hearing, showing too little regard for Charlie Kirk and his family. The attorney’s attacks on Kirk and Robinson’s flippant courtroom demeanor made their conduct look cruel beside Erika Kirk’s visible anguish.
