The Senate confirmed Todd Blanche as U.S. attorney general early Saturday in a 50-49 vote, giving President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney permanent leadership of the Justice Department after he served as acting attorney general since April. Every Democrat opposed the nomination, joined by Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Sen.
