The reporting
On NBC’s "Meet the Press," Attorney General Todd Blanche declined to pledge Justice Department independence from the White House, saying no attorney general should. Blanche said he would consider Trump’s views on prosecutions, while saying Trump had not and would not ask him to cross a legal or ethical line. He said Trump’s January 6 pardons, including for 172 people who pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers, were not inconsistent with protecting law enforcement. Blanche also backed U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s dismissal of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool vandalism case.

Trump loyalist DOJLeans Left
Todd Blanche’s remarks show he would not protect the Justice Department’s independence from Donald Trump. His refusal to clearly separate the department from Trump’s wishes suggests he would let it serve the president’s political interests rather than the rule of law.
