Minnesota ICE Extradition Denied

U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr. on Wednesday denied Minnesota’s request to force Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to extradite ICE officer Christian Castro, who is jailed in South Texas and wanted on state charges in Minnesota. Castro, 52, faces four second-degree assault counts and one false-reporting count after allegedly shooting through a Minneapolis duplex door during an immigration operation, hitting a Venezuelan man in the leg, and lying about it. Rodriguez ruled the suit premature because Abbott had not denied extradition, potentially allowing Castro’s release as soon as Thursday.
