USPS Enacts Trump Ballot Rules

The U.S. Postal Service said Thursday that new mail-in ballot handling requirements tied to President Donald Trump’s March executive order are now in effect after the Supreme Court allowed the policy to proceed. The rules require state election officials to submit voter rolls for inspection and direct USPS to screen federal ballot envelopes for voter eligibility. Twenty-four states and Washington, D.C., sued in federal court to block the requirements before the November election. The Justice Department is opposing emergency motions in Boston federal court.
