Fenway Sports Group has agreed to sell roughly 30% of Liverpool FC to 1892 Holdings, a consortium including Jeff Bezos, in a minority transaction valued at about $7.1 billion. The group is led and managed by former Queens Park Rangers chairman Amit Bhatia and includes the Mittal Family Trusts, K5 Sports, where Bezos is the lead investor, EE Capital and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. The deal marks Bezos’ first publicly identified investment in a sports franchise and includes an option for the consortium to become Liverpool’s controlling owner.
