Day 3

USS Lincoln Stays Deployed

The Navy’s carrier moves have extended sailors’ time at sea amid Trump’s Iran focus.

The USS George Washington has left Da Nang, Vietnam, for a Middle East deployment to relieve the USS Abraham Lincoln, leaving the western Pacific without a U.S. aircraft carrier. The Lincoln left port on 21 November and has spent nearly nine months, more than 240 days, at sea supporting U.S. operations against Iran. Families and lawmakers cite morale, mental health, food, supply and sanitation concerns aboard the carrier. President Donald Trump called the deployment "not nearly long enough," while Navy Secretary Hung Cao said the ship would return home soon.

Administration deception

Leans Left

Trump, Hegseth, and the Pentagon are denying or minimizing real suffering aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln instead of taking responsibility. Their rebuttals are dishonest and callous, including attacks on sailors’ families who are raising legitimate concerns about deplorable conditions.

Unacceptable Ship Conditions

Day 41

UAE Blames Iran For Hormuz Attack

Shipping tensions rise as the UAE accuses Iran and Tehran rejects Trump's Hormuz claim.

The UAE said on Aug. 15 that Iran attacked an Abu Dhabi National Oil Company vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the third strike on a state-owned Emirati oil vessel in less than a week. UK Maritime Trade Operations also reported a projectile struck the hull of a bulk carrier in the waterway. President Donald Trump said he would “pretty soon” declare the Strait of Hormuz U.S. territory after Iran’s defeat. Iran rejected the claim, saying the strait “has been Iranian” and its opening or closure remains under Tehran’s control.

Trump Escalation

Leans Left

Trump’s Hormuz toll threat and abrupt reversal show an erratic, transactional Iran policy that escalates risks, weakens U.S. credibility, and lacks a coherent path out of the crisis.

Reckless Trump War

Left & Center

Trump acted recklessly and cowardly by secretly switching planes to evade an Iranian threat, misleading the public and leaving reporters, staff and officials on Air Force One as unwitting decoys.

Unusual Precedent

Leans Right

Trump’s secret plane swap amid Iran-related threats is cast as an unusual but legitimate security precaution with precedents, not a scandal or grounds for media outrage.
