What happened

Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, was charged with two counts of criminal homicide after her husband, Charles Harrison, and their 3-year-old son were found dead at Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. Police say Harrison called 911 on October 12 asking for help killing herself and said both victims were already dead. The family had stayed at the resort since September 21 and extended the reservation on October 5, with checkout set for October 13. The district attorney called the killings a contained domestic tragedy with no public threat, but said the motive remained perplexing. The investigation is ongoing, autopsies were planned, and Harrison was held without bail before a preliminary hearing.

How each side covered it

From the left

Left-leaning outlets centered the case on Harrison’s stated despair and the official view that the danger did not extend beyond the family. The Guardian highlighted Harrison’s words about a lost vision of a happy family, while separately quoting police calling the case an isolated domestic tragedy.

From the right

Right-leaning outlets leaned into betrayal, family violence, and warning signs around the resort stay’s financing. The New York Post framed the case against the image of glowing family life and cited relatives’ concern over the use of retirement savings. Breitbart News placed the case within a broader pattern of mothers accused of attacking their families.
