The reporting
The CDC reported 1,645 confirmed U.S.-acquired cyclosporiasis cases since May 1 and more than 5,100 additional cases under investigation, bringing the nationwide total of confirmed or suspected infections to nearly 7,000. At least 141 people have been hospitalized, with no deaths reported, and more than 30 states have reported infections. Investigators have not identified a source, but lettuce and other salad greens are a focus in outbreaks centered in Michigan and Ohio. Taco Bell temporarily removed select ingredients at some restaurants while saying no link has been confirmed.
