Cyclospora Recall Widens

The FDA has withdrawn a Cyclospora-positive test for a Taylor Farms de Mexico iceberg lettuce sample as a false positive, but says traceback and outbreak data still focus on Taylor Farms shredded iceberg lettuce. Federal investigators linked the outbreak to lettuce served at some Taco Bell restaurants in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia, and Taco Bell will stop using that supplier. Taylor Farms recalled central Mexico-sourced iceberg lettuce shipped to 27 states, and Walmart removed affected Marketside items. The CDC has confirmed 1,645 domestic cases in 34 states, with at least 141 hospitalizations, no deaths and thousands more reports under investigation.
